My Journey to the Great North Run
On September 13th 2026 I will be standing at the starting line of the Great North Run. For many it is a race but for me it is the culmination of a year spent finding my footing again. I have chosen to run 13.1 miles not because I am an athlete but because I wanted to turn the weight of grief into something that moves and carries me forward.
I am running in support of the Stroke Association which is an organization that provides a lifeline to those whose lives are changed in an instant. This mission is for the survivors and their families who provide support often at the cost of their own identity. Every step I take from Newcastle to South Shields is a tribute to my mum and a thank you to everyone who has supported me through my own darkest chapters.
I am documenting my progress from my very first Couch to 5K run to the final finish line to raise vital funds and awareness. This project is proof that you do not have to be a pro to make an impact. You just have to keep moving forward.
